In October we will be continuing our Open Conversation podcast series exploring Rose LeMay’s recent book ‘Ally Us a Verb’ with Indigenous leader and Kairos Canada colleague, Murray Pruden. LeMay writes that “Allies start with enough literacy to do no harm...” From this basis we have a moral imperative in Canada to help challenge the racism and support Indigenous belonging in Canada. LeMay helps us to more deeply understand how we can change our cultural stereotypes of Indigenous peoples through everyday acts of influence, advocacy, and supporting change... how to be their ally towards truth and reconciliation.
Murray Pruden, from Nehiyaw, Cree First Nations from Goodfish Lake Nation, Alberta, now living in Vancouver, BC, is Director of Indigenous Programs with Kairos Canada. As a person of faith, I see my role as a storyteller and a voice for Indigenous peoples, sharing a path of self-love, community strength, and reverence for all of Creator’s creations.
