(Summers was Secretary of the US Treasury and economic advisor to President Obama.) Because Daly’s thinking is still popular and is bandied about in international circles seriously questioning the ideology of economic growth, we decided to reprint Bill Ryan’s 1997 review of his book, originally written after meeting him personally.
